Ignorance is not Bliss.

I've been told by police that I don't have the right to photograph or videotape them while they're in the process of reprimanding me or giving me a ticket. I spoke with Jordan Watts who said he was an attorney for the Baltimore Police Department and asked him if I had the right to videotape a police transaction. He told me "Without doing further research, if the officer doesn't want to be photographed you have no right to photograph him.(sic)" There is a security camera on a pole on the corner of Unit South Durham and Lombard Street put there by the City of Baltimore authority I presume. Amnesty International distributes video cameras in third world countries to document the actions of those in authority

Anyway, I am not speaking for the group: Groups are basically violent. Any group larger that three is a potential lynch mob. I am speaking for the survival of the Park and reasonable transitions when new tenants that come and go take up residency
.


Sometimes backing the first car in the space clears the curb and gains a foot or so. Remember, the parking we have here is a privelege--not a right. As far as photographing someone in a public space--there is no reasonable expectation of privacy.

I take pictures make movies and write books and screen plays--I also created this page, the name and formulated the content. Milburn Mehlhop designed the letterhead top and bottom from pictures that I took. Mayopia Productions LLC pays for the SITE. Letters that have been generated through my direct or indirect action appear with this page at the table at the top labeled LETTERS. Lorie has done the final draft on all the official letters generated and signed by the GROUP along with the Corporate and Non-Profit filings.  Much work has been done physically in the Park by me and someone I pay. I supply the equipment. Jerry Withers has contributed money and a little time to the Park. Nancy West has contributed time and plantings and salvaging garden space and saving trees from vines in the Park. Pat Boyle takes care of his tree. His son has helped in the Park in the past but not recently. This and Last Spring and Summer more work has been done and money invested in the Park than the past 15 years and probably since the Park was created by the City of Baltimore to the best of my knowledge.. I have been cutting the grass since 1997. When Michael lived here we picked up trash in the park. There hasn't been a lot of other participation besides Calvin calling 911 for parking and usually getting two(2) patrol cars--quickly--FOR PARKING! It takes a lot of work to create something positive for the whole but it only takes one demon to screw the pooch. Yeah--and you really do have to break a few eggs to make an omelet. It's hard to find a decent omelet anywhere--just broken eggs. NASTY!

"THINK GLOBALLY--ACT LOCALLY"

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. urged us not to judge a person by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. That actually works in every direction.

Everything takes a tremendous effort whether physical or cerebral. The Unit South D has a great opportunity to stand out, not through any fairs or festivals, but to continue to have a clean safe environment "WITH A PARKING SLOT" for two reasonably sized cars in tandem for each tenant, as has been proven time and again by many neighbors without blocking the public street, and the beautiful PUBLIC GREEN SPACE in front of your house in the city, where people walk their dogs and actually pick up after and take it with them. Something that should not simply be taken for granted since it can only be a community effort with the cooperation of the City of Baltimore that began over 30 years ago.

  • The Urban Experiment started over 30 years ago was an interracial neighborhood in Baltimore with a parking benefit for the entire block in exchange for taking care of a little park. Originally the City of Baltimore put in posts to provide a parking slot for each of the eight houses. They were removed by a few greedy people who needed extra space. The park continues to be maintained by a separate few who stay within the boundaries that lie between post holes. There's the rub.
